The Javelina Jundred is an annual ultra marathon in the sonoran desert near scottsdale, az. the figure 8 like coarse with a constant flow of beats whirling with the sonoran air made for festive atmosphere at the start/finish line.
the runners make 7.5 laps around the 15 mile loop. this layout makes for a very social race, runners pass each other as they change direction with each lap.

as the day sped on so did the heat. the afternoon sun was only evaded by aid stations and a saguaro’s shade.

before the heat started to feel too punishing the shadows began to grow and the sun started to dip, and the nice october weather prevailed. in the end it was a great day for a run. the winners are:
michael arnstien with a time of 14:38:26 (an hour quicker than any other runner)
katelyne fischbeck with a time of 19:59:45
